EDR² Share program aims to reduce waste by allowing people to share resources. The program uses a “buy back” model, meaning you can buy a tool and then sell it back to EDR² Share for a reduced price. This helps to reduce the cost of ownership of tools and prevents hoarding unused tools.
What we share:
- Common tools, power tools, and hand tools
- Measuring tools and equipment
- Testing equipment
- Spare parts
- Consumables
How it works:
Buying and selling tools:
- EDR² Share uses a “buy back” model. You can pay a fee to buy a tool (new or used) and then sell it back to EDR² Share for a reduced price.
- You can also choose to keep the tool if you like it.
- This helps to lower the cost of ownership of tools and prevent unused tools from being hoarded and eventually thrown away.
- Easy access to tools to encourage more people to do DIY projects.
Sharing consumables:
- EDR² Share buys consumables in bulk and then sells them in individual units.
- Buying surplus consumables and parts from members.
- Selling donated consumables and parts.
This helps to prevent people from buying more than they need and throwing away or hoarding the excess.
Tools safety and training:
- EDR² conducts classes to train members on how to use tools effectively and safely.
Reducing waste / Reusing tools:
- EDR² Share actively works with tool companies to help scrape and refurbish tools, strip for parts, and recycle metal parts. Good tools and parts can be used instead of entering the waste stream.
How you can help:
- Donate or sell your unused tools and parts to EDR² Share.
- Volunteer to help out with refurbishment of tools.
- Volunteer to run training classes.
Money collected from tools donations and recycling will be used to run various community programs.
Overall, EDR² Share is a great way to save money, reduce waste, and help others in your community.
Note. EDR² Share will start in Q4 2024!
